I made this vector portrait during highschool for my senior graphic design class summative. We were tasked with creating an editorial-style layout for a music artist of our choosing that creatively incorporates the lyrics of one of their songs. Joji has been a big inspiration for a lot of my life, so I decided to create his portrait. I used this portrait as one of my main pieces in my personal art showcase I had during my senior year.
The process for this portrait was incredibly pain-staking. I didn’t really have a linear process; I would go back and forth creating shapes, laying out the colors I needed, and organizing my layers. Most of my work process was using the shape cutter tool in Illustrator and duplicating the same shapes and adjusting their opacity to create the effect of shadows and highlights.
